Moscow

Andre and I have been following what's happening in Moscow and getting first hand accounts from his Uncle Vasya who lives there with his family. The extreme heat wave in central Russia has caused terrible wildfires in forests and peat bogs to break out and the winds have now spread them far and wide. Moscow is enveloped in dangerous smog and smoke, and the poor air quality along with heat has caused the death toll to double from about 350 to 700 per day! Most buildings and homes do not have air-conditioning. Many people have drowned while attempting to cool off in the rivers, but have been too weak from heat stroke to swim (or too drunk, apparently).

Please pray for this city and the awful time these people are experiencing. Pray too that the authorities would be honest and open about what is happening, as there have been reports of cover-ups by the government. This prevents people and hospitals getting the necessary help and government aid they need to improve conditions.
